Vlogging 04/12/2020
I had fun making this vlog! The hardest part would be trying to shorten the video and organizing the clips when you have over 3 hours of content to use! I just wanted to use everything but I can’t! 😂
- What was your goal with your video?
To inform my audience of cool portable electronics that are available in the market. All of these cookers are useful for any adults or students that dorm or live away from home! I also used one of the products to give the audience a deeper understanding of the technologies.
- Did you accomplish your goal? Why? Or why not?
I feel like I accomplished my goal of educating my audience on the different technologies that are readily available and useful for daily life.
- What would you do differently next time?
I would try to write a broad list of information so that my audience could be more informed when I explained the different cookers because I feel like I did not do enough justice to the different electronics I talked about in the video because it was not detailed enough. I would like to add more information next time.
- Do you think you’ll ever vlog again?
Sure. Next time I would like to make a vlog about the other portable cookers I had. 1 cooking video for each portable electronics. 😀
- Who is your favorite YouTuber? (not counting heyit’smay, Emma Chamberlain, Natalie Tran, or any of the YouTubers on this page)
My favorite YouTubers are TabiEats and the React crew.
- What about their work appeals to you?
Their works are not scripted so the reactions are genuineness which is interesting to see. Their works are always showing new content or continuations of previous works that have not finished yet. The only things scripted are the themes, the places they are going to try food (TabiEats) or the games the Reacters are going to play. But still, the number one thing that appeals to me about these types of videos are the reactions. I just love to see how different people may have different opinions, reactions, or take different actions to similar things.
- What lessons can you take from their work to apply to your own vlogging?
Genuineness is key. Don’t be embarrassed by how you act because the audience loves it best when your actions come from your heart.
- What is Authenticity?
Not word for word. Genuineness. A work does not have to be original to be authentic, it just has to come from the soul. It is the same as answering a math question, your answer is authentic because it is your own work, but if you copied the answer instead it would not be authentic. Reliable, because it is from the source.
- What is Performance?
Performance is staged or scripted works where most of the actions, reactions, or speech are not from the performer but from the character or work, the performer is acting as/for.
- Are Authenticity and Performance opposites? Or can they exist together? Explain!
Authenticity and Performance are not opposites but are also not always similar. Any authentic work could be a performance but not all performance can be authentic.
- Below are 2 clips of Jennifer Aniston on the Jimmy Kimmel show – one in the studio and one from home during the coronavirus pandemic. Do you think either clip is more authentic? Is it either more performative? Why or why not?
I would think that the clip at home is more authentic because you are more relaxed in your own home and your actions would be more authentic than in the studio. In the studio, you would be more nervous and try to show your best sides to the audience and cater to the reactions from the audience, so it would be more performative. At home, you can’t see how the audience would react so your replies would be more genuine.
